Phinikoudes Beach

Phinikoudes means ‘small palm trees’, which might confuse seeing as there are only large palm trees here, but they’ve just grown since they were planted along this 500m line of pale grey sand in 1922. This beach is really flat, the sand hardly rolls downwards at all between the trees and the water, then continues in a shallow scoop for a long way out giving the beach a long clear apron of bring blue ideal for little kids.

As well as planting the trees the area has been developed with shops and cafes which have been added to steadily over the years since and there’s now a built up area for shopping and staying just behind the promenade.

As well as the watersports and sunlonger and parasol hire people on the beach there are also lifesavers.
